Valentino Stages a Dance Performance for Fall 2019 Ad Campaign
In the wake of Maria Grazia Chiuri’s departure as one of Valentino’s creative directors, the Italian Maison has just unveiled its most dynamic photoshoot ever, staging a dance performance for the amazingValentino fall 2019 ad campaign. It doesn’t matter how big and tumultuous a shakeup might be; Valentino will never stop enchanting us with its timeless proposals, not to mention its captivating advertisement campaigns.
Active and ethereal at the same time, Valentino’s fall 2019 ad campaign features some of the most acclaimed models of the moment, namely Julia Nobis (who was also the face for the Dior fall 2019 ad campaign), Karen Elson, Jamie Bochert and Katlin Aas, along with a few statuesque male models. Judging from their flexibility and gracious poses, however, it becomes basically impossible not to perceive the models as ballet dancers too.
Such a theatrical effect might be the result of the ballerina-chic Valentino fall 2019 runway collection as well, as the loads of tulle and neutral colors used helped to embody the whole ‘dance performance’ scenario for sure.
As for the solemn atmosphere, those who enjoy fashion photography may have already guessed who the man behind the camera is: our beloved fashion photographer Steven Meisel.
Meisel, a longtime habitué at Valentino and overall one of the busiest photographers when it comes to fashion ad campaigns, skillfully managed to balance the pictures, accentuating both the models’ poses and natural beauty, but also the gentle and fluid silhouettes of the clothing pieces.
Chairs, rings (which coincidentally come just in time for the Olympic Games), platforms and other scenic materials were brought onstage too, harmonizing the pictures with their sharp and raw figures.
Artfully arranged, the Valentino fall/winter 2019-17 ad campaign succeeds in Meisel’s goal of creating not only something that is a pure artistic pleasure to watch, but that could also manage to showcase all of Valentino’s autumnal and wintery proposals for the onlookers. Although it might be undeniably hard to tell the artistic outcome from the marketing strategy, the 10-picture campaign is a variegated compendium of what Valentino has in store for us for the upcoming seasons.
Along with the neutral and skin-toned proposals, the campaign brings on stage the darker, more sensual side of the Valentino FW 2019-17 collection, wherein leather jackets, metallic-embellished gowns and fancy handbags create a glam rock and haute couture-esquename, for sure. One of the pictures features more colored, yet opaque proposals, with a fluid golden-toned velvet dress reflecting the light and ultimately bewitching us instantly.
Aside from Steven Meisel, for its fall 2019 ad campaign the Italian label crowns makeup artist Pat McGrath and hair stylist Guido Palau as its absolute favorites, and we can’t help but hope such an amazing artistic squad will keep on working together for a long time.
