Interview With Eric Canete: Storyboard Artist & Image Comics Co-Creator :: Paper Wings Show #32
Season trend: artistic wings
This fall, if you want to try yourself in the role of an artist, it is enough to just have some eyeliners in your cosmetic bag. The trends of the season encourage to draw with them wings but not simple, but more unusual, intricate and catchy. The more they look like a work of art, the more accurate they will be in trend.
Holly Fulton, Fall-Winter 2014-2015 — Chanel, Fall-Winter 2014-2015
For creative persons, the new trend will help to fully develop their potential, so boldly take a colorful liquid eyeliner, eye shadow, eye pencil and begin to act – do large strokes, create wide, sweeping lines, and if you prefer a more subtle work, then try draw multiple lines for a more original version of eye makeup. Examples from the catwalk show that there are no restrictions – all is accepted, whatever your imagination is.
Zac Posen, Fall-Winter 2014-2015
Even though we are told that the key to success in this fall-winter season is the originality in all its manifestations, the wings in the classic sense will also have the right to exist. However, they should be looked from a little different angle. Why not make them more visible than usual, having a broad and clear line along the contour of the ciliary and lengthen the sharp “tails” so that they reach almost to the eyebrows? You should take a look at the perfect beauty images from Jean Paul Gaultier show. But as to the form, this variant of wings is the simplest and easy to execute.
Jean Paul Gaultier, Fall-Winter 2014-2015
We can not say the same in respect to the wings from Anthony Vaccarello, Zac Posen, Marchesa and Holly Fulton shows. Perhaps most of all we were surprised by the first designer. Or rather by the make-up artist, whom he invited to create images for the models. Tom Pecheux chose a liquid eyeliner in two colors – red and black – and draw thin straight lines from the middle of the eyelid (both upper and lower) to the outer corner of the eye, but in a way that they do not overlap. The most surprising is that he has done all of this – you will not believe – with the help of dental floss! After that, the question of unlimited imagination in respect of new beauty-trends disappears automatically. In the beauty images from Zac Posen show, the wings were drawn as if the mobile eyelid was separated by severed lines, created as it seems, with the help of a black artistic ink from the inner corner of the eye to the outer. At Marchesa and Holly Fulton shows, the wings moved from the contour of the eye to the crease.
Anthony Vaccarello, Fall-Winter 2014-2015
These fashionable shows only give you some ideas on how to add artistic wings in your makeup. But it will be much more interesting if you will avoid copying already created images and come up with something of your own, something unique.
Chanel, Fall-Winter 2014-2015
If you doubt your artistic talent and think that experiments with the form of wings it’s not yours, draw them as you know better but in unusual colors. One of the major trend-setters, the French House Chanel, recommends that you pay attention to neon colors, which usually have the office markers. Draw wings from the middle of the eyelid in acidic pink, orange, green, speaking against the grayness of everyday life of the fall season. “Matte” ultramarine color will also be perfect, like in Kenzo show, or sky-blue coat with glitter flickering effect that Pat McGrath used to show images from Christian Dior presentation. However, any other color you are interested in, should be suitable as well, the main thing is to try to get away from the classic black wings.
