How to Strip/Cut BX CABLE(Biopsy Medical)- Install end protector boot.
How to Use Armored (BX) Electrical Cable
Determine the length of wire needed for your project.Always add 12"/30 centimeter (11.8 in) for any waste/damage
Cut in an 8"/20 centimeter (7.9 in) length of the armor with a hacksaw.Cut across the armor - not with the spiral. It is not necessary to cut completely through the armor. When the cut is nearly through, grab the wire above and below the cut and twist sharply - this should break the remaining armor without the need for the saw to contact the wires inside. Use caution - the metal edges are sharp.
Push a plastic anti-short bushing onto the wires where it contacts the metal armor.
Repeat the process at the other end of the cable.
Insert a BX connector over the end of the newly cut armor and tighten the screw to secure.Remove the threaded ring from the connector to use in the electrical box.
Strip the exposed wires and pull through the electrical box, along with the open end of the connector.
Secure the connector to the electrical box with the threaded ring.
Connect the wires to your switch/outlet in the electrical box.
QuestionWhat if the BX cable is in a wet location?wikiHow ContributorCommunity AnswerThe National Electrical Code prohibits use of BX ( technically named Armored Cable/AC ) in wet locations. Use metal-clad (MC) with a metal sheath specifically listed as impervious to water, or underground feeder/branch circuit cable (UF), either by itself or in a conduit system approved for use in wet locations (if you desire additional protection from physical damage to the cable). Thanks!
