How to be a Slytherin
How to Be a Gryffindor
Ah, Gryffindor. You simply adore this house. Harry was in it. Ron was in it. Hermione was in it. Ginny was in it. Why can't you be in it, too? Nobody's stopping you. Most of the main Harry Potter cast was in Gryffindor, and so you can read on how to be a true Gryffindor! Just follow these steps for a real Gryffindor result.
Become one with the inner Gryffindor. If you want to be a Gryffindor then you have to think about their qualities, brave, loyal and loving. You have to be a Gryffindor in and out.
On the Harry Potter and the Philosopher/Sorcerer's Stone DVD, you may find that if you insert it into your computer, you can be sorted by the one and only Sorting Hat.Cross your fingers it saysGryffindor.
Sign up for Pottermore () and move through to chapter seven where you try on the Sorting Hat and answer some simple questions to find your house.Again, cross your fingers!
Correct anyone who spells Gryffindor wrong. It's a disgrace to Gryffindors everywhere. Most HP non-fans will spell it "Griffendor", "Griffindoer", or the common mistake, "Griffindor". Politely correct them, and for HP fans, add "I thought you ought to know that."
Research Godric Gryffindor, founder of Gryffindor House.Look him up on Wikipedia and the Harry Potter Wiki. You will find interesting facts which will help you on your way to Gryffindor life.
Remember:Scarlet and gold all the way! You can substitute gold for yellow, but you may look half-Hufflepuff then. Yes, they're sweet, but we're talkingGryffindorhere. Find scarlet and gold scarves, gloves, hats and shoes. Just use a black robe for your uniform, and for the finishing touch, add a Gryffindor badge (which you can find from the HP website) to your uniform.
Speak like a Gryffindor.Since it's Hogwarts, most of the Gryffindors have a British accent, so try to practice that. Unless you're trying to be Seamus, in which case, speak like you're from Ireland. Use a few slang words
Keep in mind of your manners. Most Gryffindors are polite, dignified, and a bit modest. Have you seen Harry? Open doors for people, help old ladies cross the street. You may be a bit of a sissy, but that's better than being a bully.
Remember your courage, too. Most Gryffindors are brave (pardon Peter Pettigrew) and love adventure. Discover a plan from your school. See in advance which teacher your crazy old professor's going to marry. Dig for treasure. Discover a secret artifact.Anything'spossible, as long as you think you can do it.
Call different groups of people different names.(You can just think it if it might offend them.)
- Ravenclaws: Smarties. People you get along well with. People who are a bit shy and bookish.
- Hufflepuffs: Crazy, unexpected people. People with a love of cooking. Preferably a little bubbly around the waist.
- Slytherins: People you can't really work with. Nope. People who you think are loony.
- Snape: The professor you know who hates you,but has a soft spot deep, deep down for you.
- Death Eaters: Natural enemies.
- Voldemort: Your one and only mortal enemy.
Show your pride by decorating your room with Gryffindor furniture!Add scarlet and gold/yellow beanbags, flags of Gryffindor (usually red and gold striped), red bedsheets, yellow cabinets, and an owl for the HP look.
You're done!Keep repeating these steps until you are a true Gryffindor.
QuestionWhat if I can't get into Gryffindor?wikiHow ContributorCommunity AnswerThen you aren't Gryffindor. Take the Pottermore quiz and see. Don't be anyone you aren't, all of the houses are amazing. Thanks!
QuestionMy mom says I'm a Gryffindor because I'm brave and loyal, but I'm creative like the Ravenclaws. Which house do I belong to?wikiHow ContributorCommunity AnswerYou belong in the house you value the most. If you think your bravery and loyalty are more important and prominent to your personality than your creativity, then Gryffindor would probably be the house for you. Thanks!
QuestionIf I'm a Gryffindor will I betray all of my friends because they are in different houses?Nathan Joaquin CletoCommunity AnswerNo! Harry had friends like Luna Lovegood (Ravenclaw) and Cedric Diggory (Hufflepuff). Thanks!
QuestionWhat can I do if I am a Gryffindor and my parents won't let me change my room, which is decorated like a Slytherin?wikiHow ContributorCommunity AnswerThere's really no need to change your room. You can just act the part, or even be a little of both. However, if you feel the need to change your room, you can offer to pay for it, or do it gradually. Thanks!
QuestionDoes it matter if you have family members who are not in Gryffindor? Because my sister is a Hufflepuff my dad is a Ravenclaw, while my mom is a Slytherin.wikiHow ContributorCommunity AnswerThat's perfectly fine. Thanks!
QuestionI took the Pottermore test five times. I got each house, but I got Griffindor twice. I'm in that house, right?SpinningTopCommunity AnswerUsually your first house is your real house, and since you got it twice, I believe you are a true Gryffindor! Thanks!
QuestionI was sorted into Gryffindor, but my friends say it's not the right choice. What should I do?wikiHow ContributorCommunity AnswerThe sorting hat knows better than your friends do about which house you should be in, so have confidence that you are a true Gryffindor! Thanks!
QuestionEveryone say that I cannot be a Gryffindor because I'm fat, is this true?wikiHow ContributorCommunity AnswerGryffindors don't have to be skinny. If you look up some pictures of Neville in his first year or so of Hogwarts he was certainly portrayed as chubby. Fat people can be brave too! Thanks!
QuestionCan I be in two houses? I like both Slytherin and Gryffindor and I feel I'm a combination of the two.wikiHow ContributorCommunity AnswerTake the quiz on the Pottermore website and see which one you are. That's the most legitimate way to tell where you fit in.Thanks!
QuestionMy friend says that I'm a Hufflepuff, but I took the Pottermore quiz, and I got Gryffindor every time! It bothers me that people don't consider me Gryffindor. How can I ask her to call me Gryffindor?Community AnswerProve yourself to her. If she doesn't know the real you, then show her. Do something brave to change her mind. If she still doesn't change her mind, then that means she doesn't know the real you. Thanks!
- Be brave. That doesn't mean having no fears, it means facing them.
- Always use your manners and never act snooty.
- Buy all the books and movies, when released. This will help you study natural Gryffindor behaviour.
- Be relaxed and calm most of the time.
- Stay clean. You wouldn't catch Hermione having a drink.
- Don't try to be someone you aren't. Gryffindor isn't the best house, it's just where the main characters were put. If Zacharias Smith was the main character, Hufflepuff would be the main house talked about by Rowling.
- Never attempt to cheat to be sorted in Gryffindor on Pottermore. It won't help you, the questions are randomized and Gryffindor isn't the only "best" house. All houses have the same greatness, but each have their own traits and beauty.
- If visiting the U.K (specifically England or Ireland) don't try to speak with an English or Irish accent. They will think you're mocking them.
- Don't become too obsessed with Gryffindor. Too much of a good thing is unhealthy.
