Baking soda is a common household item. We are, however, often unaware of its beauty benefits. It is an extremely versatile kitchen item which can be used for so many different things beyond cooking and baking.

Our skin is one of the most visible parts of our body. One must, therefore, take proper care of it in order to keep it beautiful, fair and glowing. But skin care can be tricky since there can be numerous ways to do that. The best way to go about it is to keep it natural since our skin is almost always in contact with one kind of chemical or other.

Baking soda to the rescue

Baking soda for pimples and acne

Beauty tips for fair skin

Baking soda is the perfect way to get rid of pimples and acne. Simply make a paste with water and baking soda and apply it onto the affected areas. Rinse after a while and apply a gentle moisturizer afterwards. Baking soda dries out the pimples and helps in reducing redness, inflammation, and eventually gets rid of it completely. Also, baking soda is antimicrobial and contains antioxidants. It also helps in restoring the pH balance of the skin, and removes the excess oil from it.

Baking soda can help in reducing skin darkness as well. Mix baking soda and water to make a runny paste. Before applying the paste clean your skin thoroughly and pat dry. Then apply the paste all over your face and neck and rinse after 15 minutes. Using this baking soda mask regularly lightens the skin considerably in no time. It bleaches the skin, and reduces skin damage with regular use.

Baking soda and Orange juice

A glowing skin implies that your skin is healthy, and getting a glowing skin with baking soda is the easiest thing in the world. Make a paste with orange juice and baking soda. Apply it all over your face evenly. Remember to clean and pat dry your face before applying the mask. Let the mask dry for 15 minutes before gently scrubbing it off with some water. Orange maintains the pH balance of your skin and the Vitamin C gives it the much-needed collagen boost. Baking soda is a gentle exfoliator and helps in removing all the dead cells.

Baking soda and Honey

Baking soda removes the dead cells and keeps the follicles clean. While honey is a natural moisturizer and antibacterial which protects the skin from all the acne causing bacteria. Together they bleach your skin naturally to bring out a farer skin tone, and make it glow.

Baking soda, Epsom salt and Hydrogen peroxide

Moles make our skin look darker, and take away its beauty and glow. Combine equal portions of baking soda, Epsom salt, 3% hydrogen peroxide, and 1/4portion of boiling water and white vinegar to make a natural toner. This caustic concoction dehydrates the moles, and at the same time bleaches the skin to make it look brighter and fairer.

Baking soda for facial hair removal

Facial hair also makes our skin darker, and dull. Combine a tablespoon of baking soda in 200ml of boiling water. Let the solution cool before soaking a piece of cotton in it. Squeeze out excess water before placing it over the required areas. Secure the cotton with bandage, and keep it on overnight. Rinse in the morning and apply a gentle moisturizer to hydrate the skin. Since the baking soda will stay on the skin overnight always remember to perform a patch test and check for rasher or irritation. Baking soda reduces the hair growth by damaging all the hair follicles.
